(Chandigarh Bureau) : Sports Department of Chandigarh Administration organized a Wrestling Tournament for Junior Boys & Girls under 20 years of age, showcasing raw talent and unwavering commitment.This gripping tournament is set to unfold at the Mani Majra Sports Complex from 19th to 20th August, 2023, in line with the Chandigarh Sports Department’s annual sports calendar.
Mr. Sorabh Arora, Director of Sports, inaugurated the event, setting the tone for an electrifying competition Dr. Sunil Rayat, Joint Director of Sports, and Mr. Dharmender Mehta, District Sports Officer were also present during the event. The Finals of the Wrestling Tournament are scheduled to take place on 20th August, 2023, at 12:00 noon,
Elaborating on the aspirations behind the tournament, Mr. Arora shared, “Chandigarh’s Sports Department is unwavering in its endeavor to provide top-notch sports infrastructure and facilities for both recreational and performance sports. We are committed to identifying and nurturing talent from a young age, meticulously supporting their development, and ensuring their continuous growth on the path to excellence.”
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners of the tournament will receive cash prizes of Rs. 5,000/-, Rs. 3,000/-, and Rs. 2,000/- respectively. This prize money will be prevalent for the tournaments of all the sports, to be conducted by the Sports Department, U.T., Chandigarh, as per its annual calendar. The thrilling action-packed competition featured more than 100 enthusiastic participants, both boys and girls, who showcased their mettle in gripping bouts.
