Chandigarh, July:- Keeping in view of the coming monsoon season, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh constituted 18 teams to control flood/water logging throughout city active in field during rainy season and 7 Flood/Water logging Control Centre/Rooms has also been made operational round the clock in three shifts along with telephone attendants where residents can lodge the complaints of water logging during rain.
The all 18 Special Response teams and Emergency Control Room shall work 24×7. All team members of each wing shall respond immediately. B&R Wing will barricading the collapse site/caved road with its own sources. Public Health wing will arrange 5 water tankers along with driver around the clock.
All the Wings of MCC will ensure deployment of multi task worker from their existing strength in their respective area during the time of rain. All the staff associated with Storm water drainage and Sewerage system will perform their duty in their respective area. All casual leave & earned leave are cancelled during the monsoon period.
The teams will ensure carrying out emergency works on emergent basis during the rainy season. Fire personnel trained in disaster management shall be strategically deployed within the seven control rooms to leverage their expertise during emergency response. Enforcement wing to provide 2 vehicles at each control rooms.
Trained workforce will be deployed for removal of blockage in Storm Water drains, fallen tree removal, breakdown in drinking water supply, electricity etc., during the period of rain in other than day time. These orders will be operative till 15th September, 2024.
