Patiala, October 8, 2024 –
BJP Mahila Morcha President Jai Inder Kaur led a protest outside the Sanaur BDPO office in Patiala today, condemning the AAP-led Punjab government’s manipulation of the panchayat election process.
“The AAP government’s actions are a blatant assault on democracy,” Kaur said. “By misusing state machinery to reject opposition candidates’ nominations, they are denying the people of Punjab their right to a fair election.”
Kaur criticized the AAP leaders for their “autocratic and dictatorial” behavior, urging the Punjab State Election Commission to intervene and ensure a free and fair electoral process.
“The panchayat election process has become a sham due to AAP’s manipulation,” Kaur added. “We urge the Punjab State Election Commission to step in and prevent further erosion of democratic norms. It’s high time they intervene to ensure these elections are conducted fairly and without bias.”
“Bhagwant Mann ji, the people of Punjab will not tolerate this blatant misuse of power,” Kaur warned. “We will continue to fight for the rights of our candidates and the people, ensuring democracy prevails. We demand that the state election commission takes concrete steps to restore the integrity of the electoral process.”
Kaur accused AAP leaders of using “strong-arm tactics” to silence opposition voices and ensure their candidates’ victory. “This is not an election, this is an autocratic takeover of our villages. The Aam Aadmi Party government is hell-bent on stifling opposition voices and ensuring their candidates sail through by hook or crook.”
“If the matter isn’t resolved and our candidates aren’t allowed to contest, we will even go to the High Court,” Kaur emphasized. “We will exhaust all legal avenues to ensure justice is served and democracy is upheld.”
Jai Inder Kaur was accompanied by several party workers and candidates of Panchayat elections from different villages of Sanaur.
