(Chandigarh bureau) : Keeping in view the welfare of its door to door waste collectors, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh committed to provide all kind of safety tools to its 926 registered door to door waste collectors.
MCC committed to welfare of its door to door waste collectors
In a meeting with the office bearers of door to door waste collector’s associations held here today, Ms. Anindita Mitra thanked all the door to door waste collectors for their services towards a clean and green Chandigarh. She also exhorted them to encourage citizens to segregate their waste into 4 types so that the same can be processed separately.
During the meeting the Commissioner directed the Medical Officer of Health to provide all safety tools including masks and hand gloves to all the door to door waste collectors. She said that the MCC has already started distribution of 2 Kg jaggery, 2 litter mustered oil and 4 soap to each door to door waste collector. She said that this will not only help them to maintain their health and hygiene during the job but also strengthen the bond between institution and employees.
The Commissioner asked the door to door waste collectors to ensure proper collection of waste from the first and second floors of houses and visit their respective areas on fixed time so that the citizens may hand over their waste to the vehicles
