Chandigarh, April 7
The Leader of Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday rebuked the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government for making hollow claims about being power-sufficient.
Citing news a news report Bajwa said that consumers in the state should be prepared to face long unexpected power cuts in the summer season, particularly in the upcoming paddy transplant season.
“As per the news report the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has sought permission from the power regulator Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) for imposing power cuts due to any power shortage in generation within the state. Meanwhile, the experts believe that this could mean cuts after the election process in Punjab gets over in June”, Bajwa added.
Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government in January this year bought a 540-megawatt private thermal power plant at Goindwal Sahib. Mann boasted about purchasing it for Rs 1,080 crore to fulfil the power demand of the state. Meanwhile, the Punjab CM owes an explanation to the people of Punjab why has he failed to ensure a smooth power supply in the state.
“The people of Punjab have witnessed the two-year regime of the AAP. It has been befooling the people with lofty claims, however, it failed miserably to deliver on the ground. The people of Punjab have made up their mind and they will teach the AAP a lesson in this Lok Sabha elections”, Bajwa added.
The opposition leader said that the people of Punjab have got fed up with the AAP government in just two years.
